The River of Life

"The River of Life" for marimba was composed in January 2009.
This piece was created as a study of the four-mallet technique.
SYNOPSIS
This work depicts life itself.
Perhaps one of the most romantic examples that life can offer is found in the life cycle of salmon.
Life is akin to a river, where we navigate both tranquil and turbulent waters. Don't mistake choices for fate. Each decision you make alters your world, whereas destiny resembles a beautiful river upon which life finds its rest.
This work is dedicated to my first percussion teacher in Ecuador, Andrés Carrera.
