The "Passion according to St. Baqueta", written specifically for snare drum, was composed for the contemporary music festival "Two Days & Two Nights of New Music" in August 2009. It is dedicated to my composition teacher, Karmella Tsepkolenko.

SYNOPSIS

This work describes the psychological moments that Jesus might have experienced before and during the Via Crucis: the anxiety about his destiny, the feeling of abandonment by his Father, and his resignation to the expected death.

The snare drum is played using all its possible resources, evoking a contemporary atmosphere that fits within the religious and profoundly tragic human context.
