Sixto María Durán
LEYENDA INCÁSICA

for xylophone and piano

Work by the Ecuadorian composer, pianist, and lawyer Sixto María Durán (Quito, 1875 – Quito, 1947), originally written for violin/flute with piano accompaniment.

It is a Fantasy part of a collection of "Legends": Quito Legend, Tropical Legend, and Equatorial Legend. In the case of the Incan Legend, it can be presumed that it was dedicated to or inspired by the ancestral and indigenous conception of our Andean region.

Cristian's version for xylophone and piano is clearly an adaptation of the original general score. The resources used in this version are innovative in the treatment of the unique sound of the solo instrument, achieving an interesting sonic blend with the piano.
